การสำรวจปัญหาการเผชิญหน้าระหว่างคนกับช้างป่าในภาพรวม
At least 14 protected areas in Thailand suffer from human elephant conflict. There are a total of 49 protected areas with elephants. Every year elephants damage farmers crops and property. Every year people are injured or killed by wild elephants. Every year elephants are killed or injured by people.
There is no on-going research or monitoring of the HEC situation. In most cases farmers are left to cope by themselves.
We survey the affected area to assess the amount of damage and to figure out how many elephants visited and the size. In this case it was one adult elephant.
We also talk to farmers to help them understand more about wild elephants and help them find ways to repel the elephants
