TERF Activities and Events

HEC survey in Tairomyen National Park, April 2007

In April, WERF staff visited HEC site in Tairomyen National Park. This national park is one of HEC sites in Suratthani Province. The problem has occured here for four years, but no organization has work on the issue. The conflict will be worse in the next three months in the fruit harvesting season. Orchard is the main income source for villagers in the area. The staff took 2 weeks to talk with villagers and collect basic information about the problems. The activities were well participated by the villagers. After meetings with villagers in many villages in the area, they proposed some plans to deal with the problems.

On April 17, Edwina Kinsella-Bevan and Dr Nicola Santill, Elephant Family's staff, visited the site. This was a good opportunity to learn about the problem and exchang experiences with the affected people.
