Awareness Raising
The promotion of the importance of Elephants to Society and Environment of Thailand will come through a full understanding of both wild and domestic elephants’ conservation particularities, and TERF will be an important part of this process, acting mainly through its Awareness Raising Projects and initiatives.
Chang(e) Caravans
In short, it is Chang(e) Caravans Project's mission to promote “elephant walks” all over Thailand as a way to gather people and present awareness-raising exhibitions aimed at Elephant Conservation, Climate Change, Self-sufficiency Economy and Environment Conservation Issues.
The “elephant walks” organized, promoted and coordinated under the name of Chang(e) Caravans, are open to all society, and aimed at serving as multi-thematic environmental and conservation awareness-raising space. TERF intends to bring Chang(e) Caravans to over 14 provinces all over Thailand, inviting and mobilizing university students, NGOs and society as a whole
India-Thai Cultural Exchange
TERF's India-Thai Cultural Exchange Project has as mission to promote and explore the common elements in Indian and Thai cultures, history and traditional wisdom related to elephants, both in wild or domesticated.
Among our objectives and target accomplishments for this project we highlight:
- To strengthen India-Thai Cultural Exchanges through guided study tours within India aimed at developing a broader understanding of shared elements and values between two cultures under the theme of elephants.
- To offer the opportunity of Indians or Indian-descendants in Thailand to share their culture and traditional understanding of elephants.
- To organize, plan and execute guided Study Tours within India to selected natural and human-made landmarks and conservation organizations meaningful to raising awareness and deepening of understanding of Asian Elephant.
- To openly invite Indian business in Thailand to support TERF’s Projects and/or take part in the guided Study Tours
Temples Network for Elephant Conservation
TERF's Temples Network for Elephant Conservation Project has as mission to bring together religious leaders of temples firstly around Khao Yai and later all over Thailand, wherever wild elephants habitat are, and invite them to take part in the education and awareness-raising activities, allowing them to share within their communities the acquired knowledge and incorporate this in their wisdom transmission.
More specifically, it is among this project's objectives and target accomplishments:
- To promote Discussion Panels and Events bringing together temples’ abbots and village representatives to share knowledge on Elephants & Religions, Traditional Knowledge on Elephants, the Mahouts, Elephants and Forest, Human-Elephant Conflicts, Wild Elephant Conservation, in line with Thai Elephant Curriculum’s study guidelines.
- To follow up and coordinate the estabilishment of an active network of temples turned to the better knowledge of Thai Elephant as whole, and raising awareness towards its conservations issues.
- To compile materials and support publications presenting Elephant Conservation issues and sharing knowledge on the subjects of Elephants & Religions, Traditional Knowledge on Elephants, the Mahouts, Elephants and Forest, Human-Elephant Conflicts, Wild Elephant Conservation
- To support the growth and strengthening of cooperation between temples and local communities in terms of awareness raising towards Elephants Conservation issues.
