GIS and Research
Maps
We used GIS to make detailed maps of our work including elephant home ranges, areas of the park used by elephants, elephant densities, HEC localities, survey trails (Recce and Line Transects), habitat-type maps and other useful maps. We can then use GIS to make predictions about areas that we have not surveyed in detail; for example predictions about elephant movement, predictions about areas that might suffer HEC in the future or areas where certain plant species are most likely to be found.
Database
We currently make a database of all our historic and current data.
